Statements Of Belief

We are a member congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, the largest conservative Lutheran church body in the United States. To learn more about our beliefs, click here.

In summary, we believe, teach, and confess:

· The Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

· That the Bible is truly and entirely the Word of God—it is the source and judge of our life and all teaching.

· That every human, since the fall, is a lost and condemned sinner whose sin has offended and angered our good and holy God, and who rightly deserves temporary and eternal punishment.

· But that God so loved the world in that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live the life we did not, die for the sins we committed, and rise from the dead on the third day, in order to call us to a new life lived in His grace and forgiveness.

· That Jesus ascended into heaven and currently rules over all things for the good of those who love Him and for the repentance of those who do not.

· That there is no other name given under heaven by which we may be saved than that of the crucified and risen Lord of glory.

· That the only way for a person to be forgiven and saved is by faith alone in Christ alone.

· That faith is not a decision or choice we make for Jesus, but a gift worked in us by the Holy Spirit.

· That good works necessarily result from faith, but that our works do not, in any way, earn our salvation.

· That Holy Baptism is a life-giving water in which God forgives all our sins, covers us with Jesus’ perfection, publicly declares us to be His beloved child, and flings open the gates of heaven.

· That in Confession and Absolution, we repent of our many sins and hear God speak His forgiveness to us through the pastor.

· That in Holy Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, we truly receive the body and blood of Jesus, eaten and drunk with the bread and wine, for the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our faith.

· That one day Jesus will return in power to judge all people.

We believe, teach, and confess that the canonical books of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and the only rule of faith and practice. We believe, teach, and confess that the three Ecumenical Creeds (the Apostle’s, the Nicene, and the Athanasian Creeds) are faithful testimonies to the truth of the Holy Scriptures and we reject all the errors they condemn. We believe, teach, and confess that the Unaltered Augsburg Confession is a true exposition of Holy Scripture and a correct exhibition of the doctrine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and that the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Small and Large Catechisms of Martin Luther, the Smalcald Articles, the Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope, and the Formula of Concord, as contained in the Book of Concord, are also in agreement with this one, Scriptural faith.
